sesame-swims:goldfishgal:mad-hare:goldfishgal:Who the heck at NLS thought putting the cooking instructions for their gel food deep inside the jar of smelly powder was a good idea? Lol…. :| (I taped the important part to the outside.)I never even knew NLS made gel food… how does it compare to Repashy? This is my first time trying it! Jules seems to like it, but he’s not picky.Their Algae/Gel would probably be closer to Soilent Green and what I should have gotten. I’ll probably pick it up too. Variety is the spice of life and all. I haven’t tried any other Repashy food beside Soilent, myself. And I love Soilent.Mixing ratios are the same. 1 part powder to 3 parts water.3oz. of Soilent green is $14 shipped on Amazon (no Prime)3.5oz of either NLS gel mix is $12 shipped on Amazon (with Prime)Now, I’m no fish food expert so take this with a grain of salt if you want. NLS has been making quality fish food forever though and I have no qualms about recommending their products. Some things that stood out to me on both the NLS gels is a good dose of garlic, which is a natural anti-parasitic. I always add garlic to my homemade food. The NLS algae formula has an impressive 9 different kinds of seaweed and algae. The NLS formulas do not have brewer’s yeast like Soilent, which is great for the gut.NLS seems harder to mix with the water to me, but YMMV? They both set up just the same and hold their shape well in the tank. Both smell terrible. lolMy decision to try a switch was based purely on saving money. I can’t say either Repashy or NLS formulas are better than the other. Both are great foods IMO. If you like NLS pellets but want a gel, say if you have a floaty fish, then give it a try! :) Thinkin abt trying this. It’s probably my imagination but marmalade seems to do worse on his soilent green days, and I didn’t know that about Brewers yeast. Definitely gonna think abt this oneBrewers yeast is supposed to be good for them. I see how my wording may have suggested otherwise though!. :) -- source link
