Within the Kua town ruins, Juani Island, Tanzania. The remains are from a medieval Swahili town. “Indicators of early settlement and trade - including Islamic and Chinese ceramics dating to the 13th and 14th centuries and currency from mainland Tanzania - have been found in the ruins. Portuguese accounts from the 16th century noted the great wealth of the Kua people. The surviving structures include the ruins of residences, mosques, and what is believed to have been the sultan’s palace” -- source link
