gemma-antiqua:Sardonyx cameo of Germanicus, dated to the early 1st century CE, and found in the MFA. Germanicus was the son of Drusus the Elder and Antonia Minor, making him the grandson of Livia through his father and the great nephew of Augustus through his mother. His wife was Agrippina the Elder and with her he had several children, perhaps most famously Caligula and Agrippina the Younger, mother to Emperor Nero. Germanicus was incredibly popular in Rome, and many believed his uncle Emperor Tiberius had a hand in his death as his popularity made him a potential threat to Tiberius’s reign. -- source link
