A public propaganda poster on display in Nazi Germany, titled “The Biology of Growth,” and labeled “Stages of Growth for Members of the Nordic Race.” Hitler was obsessed with ideas about race. In his speeches and writings, Hitler spread his beliefs in racial “purity” and in the superiority of the “Germanic race"—what he called an Aryan "master race.” He pronounced that his race must remain pure in order to one day take over the world. Upon his rise to power, these ideas were disseminated through all forms of public media, and were put into practice through forced sterilizations, “medical check-ups” to see if students were “sufficiently Aryan,” and generally creating the toxic atmosphere that ultimately resulted in the Holocaust.
