triumvirate2016:womandrogyne:Tumblr classicists - do you know who this is a sculpture of? I saw him in the Musée d’Orsay a lot of years ago (but I can’t find him on their current list of sculptures), and I had it fixed in my head that he was Homer, but I’m not sure now. At his feet were a scroll and a sheaf of corn. I basically fell in love with that face. And yep, he’s still got it… I mean look at those arms thoughI’m guessing Vergil because poetry and sorta bucolic symbols, but I could be wrong. Anybody else? ~O -- source link
