Hey guys,Alex here from 13AM Games here to talk a bit about my new upcoming game, SlingChomp! As the first of my dev blog posts I should like to say what my background is. That is film, video, photography, and visual art. So, that is to say, I’m not a programmer and I’m not an animator. But when you join this industry as an indie, you kind of have to learn a bit of everything. So while earlier this week I was learning scripting in C#, today was my day to learn how to animate. A run cycle. In pixels.Much easier said than done, as you can see by my jittering pixelated mess “running” before your very eyes. A great reminder of why people go to school for this stuff! :PI’m a big fan of animation, and a huge fan of animators like Hayao Miyazaki, Takeshi Koike, -and on the game side of things- Paul Robertson and Simon Anderson, among many, many others. But I will make this clear again: I am not animator. So I’m just giving this my best shot until the new animator I’m working with starts.I gotta say, though, I’m having a lot of fun. So I’ve uploaded two gifs to show my progress so far. Just simple outlines to show the basic motion of the action.Oh and you may notice my character has only one arm… There’s a reason for that… You will find out… soon!Stay tuned!-AR -- source link
