Behind the Scenes of The Christmas Invasion (Part 23) In honor of Arwel sharing the “rubbish hand” photo, here’s an excerpt from Benjamin Cook’s article for Doctor Who Mag #365:“Can we have David’s other hand on set, please?” requests Jon [Older, first assistant director].“It’s a bit chunky, isn’t it?” says David, comparing the prosthetic hand - when it arrives - to his own. “You could have some fun with it, though. You could freak someone out if you dropped it next to them.”“Oh, the things we do on cliff tops in Barry,” laughs James [Hawes, director], as David struggles to squeeze his own hand inside the prosthetic one.“I can’t fit it right down inside it.”“Can you scrunch it up any more?” asks James. But no one can stop laughing long enough to get through a take. It’s Corpse City Central. It’s what’s known as ‘a slight weakness in the dorsal tubercle’. When David starts talking to his prosthetic hand-glove, that only makes things worse…“Hello, Sooty,” says David, and he raises the hand to his ear. “What’s that, Sooty? You want to do some magic?”“Okay, folks,” calls out James, trying to restore some order, “let’s go for another take.”“As serious as we can be, please,” sniggers Jon.“And… action!”(with special thanks to Arwel W. Jones on Instagram for sharing more behind-the-scenes photos in recent months)Other posts in this set - I would include a link to my #whoBtsCi tag, but that makes this whole post not show up in the tags - so here’s [ part 1 ] instead -- source link
