motleybits:I found out about this book through @the-forest-library when she posted a review of the book. If you love L.M. Montgomery’s writing because of ‘Anne of Green Gables’ or any other of her books, you will love this novel. But, this is not a book about a young girl finding her way in a new place, this one is about a woman who is twenty-nine and living an existence that is bleak and boring. But, one day, Valancy Stirling gets some news that changes her whole world and her place in it. I found myself silently cheering when she makes a decision to not put up with that life and begins to take steps to take herself in a new direction.I generally don’t get emotional about novels, but by the time I reached the last page, my heart swelled with such happiness that Valancy got the life she wanted and totally deserved. If you want a wonderful story with beautiful descriptions of the land, much like she does in ‘Anne of Green Gables’ you will find yourself falling into this book and not wanting to leave until you are done.Five stars from me. I’m so glad you enjoyed The Blue Castle! It’s an amazing book, and it’s not at all what you imagine it to be. If you haven’t read this book yet, please pick it up. It has wonderful nature descriptions, especially of the winter. Thank you @lilymaidofgallifrey and @symonereads for shouting about this book and bringing it into my life! -- source link
