Of course, he didn’t remember his real mother, who died giving birth to him, so this woman could have easily become a true role model for him, but she never seemed to be interested in that. Instead, she always found a reason to punish him, to make him think of himself lower than any peasant.When Culhwch was eight years old, his parents celebrated a birth of another child, a daughter. Making the bloodline strong, his stepmother, the queen, decided to pair the children together, keeping the throne safely in the hands of her family. The young prince refused to ever marry his sister and ended up offending the queen deeply. She cursed him, sentencing him to marriage with Olwen, daughter of the giant Ysbaddaden and no one else. Culhwch, scared of his stepmother’s words, ran away from the castle.He’s been on his way since then. He has been through a starvation, illness, and poverty; he forgot who he was before.
