With the Museum’s upcoming reinstallation of its Korean Art collections on the horizon, the artist book Zwischen Sejong und Gutenberg is especially relevant as it beautifully illustrates cross cultural influences ranging from Sejong the Great, the fourth king of the Joseon Dynasty of Korea, to the work of Johannes Gutenberg, the German master printer. Through typography and design, the text and images flowing throughout this book present a quiet view into the worlds of these influential people as beautifully interpreted by Ahn Sang-soo, the master Korean graphic designer. The artist’s engagement with Korean Hangul script is a historical tribute to its creator King Sejong and Gutenberg, who was his contemporary.Posted by Deirdre Lawrence -- source link
