“Trans Lifeline is preparing to upgrade our phone software. This will accomplish two things:1. Call queue. Currently if a trans person in crisis calls and all the operators are talking to other callers, the caller is told to call back. This would change that so that the caller can remain on hold and the operator would be able to see how many people are holding. This would let the operator prioritize and try to get other operators to come on call.2. Adding a Spanish language option. The new platform supports multiple languages and this would allow us to serve the Spanish speaking community. Currently we are English only and we are in a big hurry to change that. The new software will raise our software cost from something like $90 a month to closer to $450 a month. It’s hard to be sure because we will spend $1 an hour for each operator that is on line.In addition to all of that August is the slow time of the fundraising year. We would really like to launch in September because we think that this will save lives and that it really can’t wait. Please donate if you can, anything helps.”- Gretahttp://www.translifeline.org/donateAs seen on the Trans Lifeline Facebook pageTrans Lifeline opened to provide a resource for transgender people with suicidal thoughts.
