On the morning of October 28th, 1991, Wheeling, Illinois authorities received a phone call from an unidentified man, claiming to know the location of an unconscious woman. The caller alleged to be calling from a payphone, and refused to give the dispatcher his name. When police arrived to the said address, they were shocked to find the lifeless body of 27-year-old Jamie Santos in her bedroom. She appeared to have struggled with her killer, but ultimately died from being smothered with a pillow. There were no signs of sexual assault and no evidence or fingerprints could be found at the scene. Authorities began to speculate her career-choice could have been a factor. According to family, Jamie was an exotic dancer who worked out of Chicago. It was reported that Jamie had said she didn’t feel well the night of October 27th, and decided to stay home and watch movies. Her last known form of contact came that night, when she called a friend sometime before going to bed. Authorities believe that the anonymous caller could possibly be the killer, though the man has never been identified. Many speculate that an angered client could have possibly been responsible, though the case remains unsolved. -- source link
