snakegay:i did an alduin redesign awhile ago but it sucked so i decided to try againmy reason behind both is that skyrim’s dragons are so fucking boring, especially alduin in terms of him being pretty much a god but his design is just ‘youve seen every dragon ever.. now its got more spikes”. this one takes some inspo from jörmundgandr (which i assume alduin was at least slightly inspired by in general) so im going for a more serpentine wormy thing. i feel like the alduin you see and kill in-game is just an aspect of THE Alduin, because youd think an entity that eats the world every cycle would be less easy to beat by some guy who can yell good, and hes still gonna come back and do his world eating regardless.so with this in mind, the idea with the design is that you see different aspects of him ingame. the more draconic one is what you see in your early encounters, and one that you encounter in sovengarde is his true form as a gigantic serpent. you never see his whole body and his coils just disappear out of view .. kind of defeats the game mechanics purpose of dragonrend but like a) i dont care b) the lore reason is to force the dragon to experience mortality, so i imagine that his boss fight would start with him as a giant infinite serpent but is temporarily forced into his draconic aspect by the shout and can then be “killed”.also theres a paarthurnax who, like his brother, is a big worm but isnt quite an infinite world serpent -- source link
