millerbenny-moved:PART FIVE: HUE/SATURATIONi’m back! it’s been awhile since i made the last part, but i promise i haven’t forgotten about this series.hue/saturation layers are extremely helpful for manipulating colors and in this tutorial i’ll be using a different gif than i’ve been using, since it’ll be easier to explain with this new one! with a hue/saturation layer, you can go from this:to this:or this:as well as lightening/darkening/intensifying the colors!so with curves this is what it looks like the main color is cyan, but there’s also a bit of green on the right. so those will be the color settings we’ll focus on!here’s our hue/saturation layer setting tab: hue changes the color: saturation changes the intensity of the color: and lightness changes the lightness/darkness of the color: so let’s say i want the background to be that pinkish color in the gif at the beginning. i start by adjusting the hues in the cyan setting. just slide it around until it’s the color you’d like! since we’re using the cyan setting and the slider starts in the middle where it’s cyan, the color in the gif will match up with the one on the slider.i can make the color more intense by increasing the saturation setting: and maybe i’ll play around with the lightness setting: now i’ll go into the green setting and do the same. since green isn’t in the center like cyan, in this setting, and all other colors aside from cyan, the colors in the gif won’t match up with the colors on the slider. as you can see below, i moved the slider to red, but it shows up as pink. don’t focus on the slider colors; just move it around until the colors in the gif look as you’d like: if i still don’t like the color i have now, i can add another hue/saturation layer and adjust the magenta settings: or if i decided altogether that i wanted another color: that’s really about it! it’s pretty straightforward. changing yellows/reds becomes tricky since that’ll affect skin tones. i’ll eventually make a tutorial on **layer masks **which are extremely helpful when adjusting tones that’ll affect other areas you don’t want changed. i do mention layer masks a bit in this tutorial if you’re curious!
