Twitterature - Penguin Books: Have you ever wondered how classic novels would read if they were published today? With the uprise of social media site Twitter, Penguin Books have tried to imagine how authors would communicate their stories across the social networking phenomenon - were they written in today’s society. The 160 page book was published in late 2009 and contains such classic novels as Paradise Lost and Alice in Wonderland. What is especially interesting is how authors Alexander Aciman and Emmett Rensin have condensed the classic literature to fit the 140 character limits: ‘What exactly is Hamlet trying to tell me? Why must he mince his words, muse in lyricism and, in short, whack about the shrub?
