Hi internet, it’s been a while!Life’s been exceptionally busy, and to help cope with that I decided to put art stuff on hold until things settled down.  I’m not super thrilled about it, but I’m hoping once things settle a bit and I start working on my dissertation full time I might be able to carve out an hour or so a day for things like drawing in order to maintain my sanity. Still, this current push means I haven’t been practicing drawing much outside the margins of my notes.Aside from a lot of silly doodles, I’ve fallen back into my habit scribbling little symbols when I’m listening to people talking.  This afternoon and while I was waiting for an experiment to finish up I decided it might be sort of fun to use the symbols to make a font (and learn how to make a font).  Turns out making a font is less straight forward than first thought, and I spent a surprising amount of time trying to figure out how to use a free program I found online.  Anyhow, after I had a semi-functional font I decided I needed a project to try it out on, so I spent some time reminding myself how to make vector art in illustrator.  The whole exercise was a pretty nice refresher, and it help me vent a bit of creative energy.  Then for some reason I put the whole thing on a space background I made a while ago.So this is basically how I spent my afternoon as an adult with many responsibilities and important things to do. -- source link
