I’m gonna be honest with you, I haven’t seen them since they came out and am not a big LoTR person to begin with, and mostly found that post pretty funny. THAT SAID, I am inclined to believe you’re right, not only because you usually are but also because going through the notes on that thing was starting to give me a headache. Lots of Grand Pronouncements on What Fantasy Is that were just…not accurate. But I think maybe it’s easy to get caught up in the grandeur and beauty of it all and kind of miss the whole “elegiac mourning” thing that’s definitely woven into the story.@bonearenaofmyskull, since we can’t have normal replies that tag you automatically anymore -- source link
