In 1892 he came to Sicily for the first time andstarted exploring the early necropolis of the island, which was to become hislife task. He intensely collaborated with the archaeologist Paolo Orsi inSiracusa. Führer documented and traced a fundamental and precious map of theEarly Christian Catacombs of Sicily through drawings and pictures taken with anold Sanderson Junior camera. Due to his premature death, his friend and colleague Victor Schultze publishedthe results of his researches posthumously in 1907. -- source link
