Bi Week: Christina of SwedenHappy Bisexual Awareness Week! Christina was crowned as the monarch of Sweden in 1650, aged 18. They abdicated four years later, cut their hair, donned trousers, and left Sweden to pursue a life of arts and scholarship in Rome. Throughout their life, Christina continued to reject aspects of their assigned gender, cutting their hair short, often wearing a mix of masculine and feminine clothing, and at times experimenting with male names. Christina wrote coded love letters to a cardinal, and also had a relationship with one of their ladies-in-waiting. They also described themself as attracted to celibacy, and may have been asexual.Check out our podcast to learn more[Image: portrait of Christina painted by Sébastien Bourdon] -- source link
