whilereadingandwalking:“The Color Master” by Aimee Bender is one of my all-time favorite
whilereadingandwalking:“The Color Master” by Aimee Bender is one of my all-time favorite stories, told from the perspective of the dressmakers that create the moon, sun, and sky dresses from the “Donkeyskin” folktale. It’s a gorgeous, lush story. The other short stories were lovely, from the painful “Tiger Mending” to the haunting “The Fake Nazi” to the excellent spiritual story “The Doctor and the Rabbi.” And then there’s “The Devourings,” the tale of the ogre’s wife living the aftermath of the fairytale story where the humans hiding in her home switch their hats with the ogre children’s crowns. Aimee Bender writes of righteous anger, mysterious strangers, and hurting people reaching out for others. -- source link
