cyan-biologist:Banksia sp.Banksia is a genus of Australian plants, often distinguished by their big flower-cones. The genus contains a lot of different plants, ranging from plants with red, white, yellow and even purple flowers. Sometimes (see photo) the plant has Coniferophyta-like leaves, but is a Angiosperm. Not all Banksia species have the cone-like flowers, a lot of them have hanging flowers with a reduced axis. The flower seen above is however a cone-like structure, consisting of small flowers with styles, and later anthers.Plantae - Angiospermae - Eudicots - Proteales - Proteaceae - BanskiaPhoto-credits:Paul on Flickr (x)References:(x)This plant looks insane to me. -- source link
