Now, how does any of this seem bad? ‘Tis the season to be arguing with my parents (mother especially) about politics and tonight’s topic was Obamacare. I won’t shop/eat at the following places because of their cutting of workers’ hours and layoffs with the guise of it being too expensive to pay for health care:Groupon, Papa John’s, Red Lobster, Energizer, Bristol-Meyers, Darden Restaurants. There are more if you click the link in the picture. And my mother thinks that until I own a small business, I can’t say anything. But the thing is, these aren’t small businesses, they’re national brands. They’re million dollar, billion dollar corporations. They have no excuse to say that they can’t afford to give their workers health coverage. She also said that minimum wage jobs were “living wage” and that they were only meant for teenagers, not for people to be raising a family. But in a country that doesn’t give its citizens the opportunity to further their education, how can we expect them to not work these jobs? -- source link
