Another pin oak leaf, they keep developing these understated but absolutely riveting color patterns
Another pin oak leaf, they keep developing these understated but absolutely riveting color patterns within the context of an overall very dark color that I try to capture. That suspicious round hole in the lower right (?) lobe was not made by an insect, it was made by me. There was a wasp gall on the leaf and 1. I did not want to paint that (too challenging mostly, the unexpected bulge into three dimensions) but also 2. I have a superstitious dread of the wasp deciding to Emerge as soon as I bring a leaf with a wasp gall inside the house. So I removed the gall. -- source link
