Let’s talk about our March box books and fandoms! In case you forgot or didn’t see it before, the March box has TWO new-release books (and now an ebook, too!)! The first is Sweet & Bitter Magic by Adrienne Tooley! Sweet & Bitter Magic is a debut fantasy YA tale, filled with magic, magic, magic! Despite Tamsin’s (with black hair on the cover) inability to feel love, the book is actually full of it – not just a growing kind of love between her and Wren (red hair), but Wren’s love for her father and Tamsin’s for her dead sister.Tamsin is a witch… the most powerful witch of her generation, to be exact. But Tamsin did something unspeakable – something so bad that she was exiled from witch lands and her magical school and cursed with the inability to feel love again. The only way she can get those feelings back—even for just a little while—is to siphon love from others. So, she ekes out an existence outside of a rural human village, accepting love (for partners, for children, for family) in payment for her magical concoctions. She rations it so that she can still get a taste of what she lost - just enough to survive.Wren is a source - a rare kind of person who is made of magic, despite being unable to use it herself. Sources are required to train with the Coven as soon as they discover their abilities, but Wren—the only caretaker to her ailing father—has spent her life hiding her secret. When a magical plague ravages the queendom, Wren’s father falls victim, and to save him, Wren proposes a bargain: if Tamsin will help her catch the dark witch responsible for creating the plague, then Wren will give Tamsin her love for her father. Of course, love bargains are a tricky thing, and these two have a long, perilous journey ahead of them—that is, if they don’t kill each other first..Our copies are beautiful new hardcovers (just LOOK at that cover! *-*) and come with signed bookplates and an author letter - the first Adrienne has ever written. @ace-artemis-fanartist‘s art of Wren and Tamsin is also on the back of the spoiler card. We really loved this book and all of the twists and turns it makes. We think a lot of you will love it, too!LGBT+ rep: wlw (unspecified but I believe lesbian and bi)CW: plague (there’s nothing graphic, it just exists in the background), mild violenceNext we’ll be talking about Fragile Remedy, the second physical book in the March Rainbow Crate! -- source link
