johnniewaswolf:daddys-chaton-noir:lady0fwonder:justwhitefeminismthings:micdotcom:Watch: Poet Elizabeth Acevedo nails the hypocrisy of anti-choice advocates. This headline is a little too simplistic. It isn’t just about the hypocrisy of anti-choice advocates, it’s how white anti-choice advocates are racist shitheads who try to use this horribly degrading logic to guilt a black women into not having an abortion, and yet continue to refuse to provide services and benefits to her, and treats her children and her family as inferior to the white nuclear family. It’s more than just anti-choice politics. It’s about white supremacy. But wait… they don’t just discriminate to those black women going into planned parenthood. They badger white women as well. I’ve been harassed going in there multiple times. Why is everything have to come down to race and hate. It’s about all of us. why are u trying to erase the experience of black women? this post isn’t abt white women. not every single thing is abt every single person. everything isn’t abt race. but this post is abt the unique experience of black women, concerning these issues. what u’ve done by adding what u said is the following:u’ve derailed this post & made it abt u/white women. did u notice that u didn’t include a list of multiple races of women? u didn’t mention mexican women. or chinese women. u only mentioned white women. so don’t say it’s abt all women from ur pov cuz that’s obviously not true. (but to be clear: u would still be in the wrong if u had spoken abt anyone besides black women on this post BECAUSE THIS POST IS ABT BLACK WOMEN. u wouldn’t go onto a toy story post & be like but pixar made monsters inc too! AND?!? SO?!)u’ve minimized black women’s experiences w/ this by saying it’s the same as what white women experience, which is NOT true. yes, this behavior is deplorable, no matter the recipient—but we don’t all undergo it the same. u’ve missed the entire point of this message & it’s rly sad. a large part of her message was that black women are carrying a different burden when they walk past those shouts. & ppl should keep that in mind when they want to run their mouths abt how everything isn’t abt race. You weren’t mean. You’re exactly right. It’s this constant need of white women to derail any conversation that isn’t about them, and we need to stomp on it every single time and hope that eventually they’ll get it: black women don’t move through the world the same way you do. -- source link
