BABY TURTLEBABY PAINTED TURTLEexcitements from our trip to Lawson Lake:spotted a kestrel with jesses!?! on the way theremany many newts!!!!!!!!!!i really love newts they are my favorite dead garter snake :(empty wasp nestmy son found a snail shellBABY PAINTED TURTLE baby painted turtle was of course returned to the water after we bothered itit swam valiantly off into the lake, pausing on a log see the tiny tiny speck midway along the log, that’s the turtleit’s not a very big logSNAPPING TURTLE RESCUEan older woman yelled over to ask if we wanted to see a snapping turtleshe and her son had seen it sitting in the middle of the road so they’d gotten it into the back of their pickup truck and were going to let it go in the waterbut first the son wanted to get some leeches off it, because leeches are no funit’s a tricky business, getting leeches off a snapping turtleturns out he went to school at the nice hippy-ish place where my kids go to summer camp, and i am unsurprised that that school produces big cheerful handsome young men who are handy with a snapping turtle in a pickup truckhe said it was the most fun he’d had in days, we agreedwe all kind of forgot to be social distancing because we were thinking about snapping-turtle distancingthey had a beagle named bella who was confused by all this and just wanted her walk -- source link
