Its the very beginning of March and Spring is starting to make a stronger appearance now. Lots of little bursts of color springing out of the ground seemingly overnight. Another wave of snowdrops are coming into flower. This unnamed one was supposed to be a double - ‘Flore Pleno’ - I rather like it even it isn’t what it was supposed to be. It looks so springlike with it’s tiny light green stripes and carpet of chickweed. The chickweed looked so lush and green, I didn’t have the heart to remove it. Some say it’s great for salads, might have to try that. Glad to see at least some honeybees made it through the winter and are happily looking for pollen. They enjoy the “tommies” crocus - the aconite and snowdrops too, just not quite as much. The parasol shaped snowdrop is a new addition. My favorite at the moment ! This one is Godfrey Owen, a really nice poculiform type. This flower has nice staying power too - has been open for a good two weeks I think. -- source link
