calebtdenecour:Well that was a good couple hundred asks. All I will say about everything is that I want everyone to take a moment and think about how often I get harassed via Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube, etc. Think about the dozens of messages I get everyday telling me how terrible am I, how I should be fired, how I suck, how I should kill myself. Think about how, while yes, I may have put myself in a “public” position with my work, I am still just a regular human being. There have been days I’ve wanted to lash out at people, tell them off and publicly humiliate them. Some days I just feel like quitting my job and deleting all forms of social media. Sure, I get 10 positive messages for every negative message, but it’s the negative ones that stick with you the most. They are the ones that sit inside your head all day and bring you down. I’m not trying to say that how people react to criticism publicly is ok, not at all. But for a minute think about how often people in the public eye are harassed. Think about how a message you send telling someone they are terrible for saying something rude can affect them. Now think about them receiving thousands of those messages in the span of an hour. It’s not easy to deal with. So please, in the future, just take a minute to think about the other side. You’d want them to do the same for you, right?Anyway, the actual point of this post was going to be for me to talk about the show RWBY. I wrote something up over on the RT website and I’d really like for you to read it and share your thoughts (on RWBY) there.First off, yes RWBY is fucking awesome, I wish I gave that show a fair shake from the beginning. Anyone who was like me and on the fence about it should really give it a shot. If if doesn’t hook you by episode four, I dunno man. You don’t like fun and ladies and shockingly good VA work (the trailers were not indicative of the final product), I guess. But on the heavier topic– in hindsight, it does seem like Michael’s tweet was about that, and that’s really frustrating because a lot of people do have real suggestions and grievances about AH’s content and convey them without being abusive shitheads, but… it all gets lost. Like, I already told Caleb this, but Twitter is a fucking terrible medium of communication. But it often feels like the only place to try and be heard. So we have a situation where everyone is yelling in a wind tunnel and everyone just gets more frustrated and mad at each other.I don’t know the solution to the problem, but the current way things are working, wherein Twitter and Youtube and (ugh) Reddit drown out anything intelligent or properly critical and Tumblr has no actual connection to RT.Caleb says RT’s site itself is a much better environment than all aforementioned. I’m hesitant to believe that but still plan on trying to get a foothold there./gets back to Astronomy notes -- source link
