Jean-Michel Basquiat and the borough of Brooklyn are inextricably linked. Born in Brooklyn Hospital
Jean-Michel Basquiat and the borough of Brooklyn are inextricably linked. Born in Brooklyn Hospital to a Haitian immigrant father and a mother of Puerto Rican descent, Basquiat grew up eagerly reading texts in French, Spanish and English, and visiting Museums around the city—including “The Brooklyn”, where at the age of six he became a Junior Member. This is the final week to see Basquiat’s exceptional painting Untitled (1982) on view here in his hometown. This spotlight presentation honors the local hero that inspires Brooklynites and global audience alike.Get up close with One Basquiat through Sunday, March 11.Lee Jaffe (American born 1950), Jean-Michel Basquiat, 1984.
