wizzard890:NYC Pride - 2016no one celebrates like the LBGT community, because no one knows much celebration matters like LGBT community. we’re the most beautiful, diverse, remarkable group of people, and we’ve all been hurt. at some point or another, we’ve lost someone because of this: the flags in the sun and the chants for peace and the handfuls of condoms and the queer kids who saved to come here from Florida with rainbow wings strapped to their backs. the throwing your arms around someone you don’t know, and blowing kisses to lesbian couples on the sidewalk. we’ve worried about our parents or our friends or our God forgetting about us, because we want to live, and to live fully. but we come to Pride anyway. in spite of fear, or loss, or unhappiness, we come to be with our people, the family we chose, and that was always waiting for us. I lived yesterday. I’ve been dead once, I’m not scared of guns. I held my girlfriend’s hand and kissed her over and over again in front of a crowd that cheered every time, so loudly my ears are still ringing. I was happy and in love, and nearly burst into tears when a priest, collar and all, ran from the sidelines to offer us cups of water. things are dark, so often, and we’re hurt, so much. but because we’re the people we are, we find one another anyway, and dance. more life. -- source link
