We tend to focus on Peggy’s heartache over losing Steve and the life they could’ve had (we have Agent Carter for that) but this is the one time we see it really shake Steve. In the Smithsonian, his sadness is closed off because it was routine. He knew what he was walking into. But after this jump attack, Steve is a mess, it looks like he’s struggling to breathe a little. He clenches his hand and you can see him literally try to blink the image away over and over. I’ve said it before—AOU was a hot mess on many, many levels, but this scene is one of the best acted in the film. It’s so understated, but so powerful. -- source link
