The Confederate Revolving Cannon,An interesting artillery piece, the Pate Revolving Cannon was a pretty much like a large cap and ball revolver.  With a five shot cylinder and a two inch bore, the cannon was invented and built by attorney Henry Clay Pate during the American Civil War to aid the Confederacy.  It was fired using striker fired percussion caps and the cylinder was turned with the used of a ratchet lever.The Pate cannon saw limited use at the siege of Petersburg.  On April 27th, 1865 it was captured by Union troops in Danville, Virginia and sent to the Army Ordnance laboratory at West Point for study. After that it’s fate is unknown. -- source link
