I love how no ship in this show is written AGAINST any other ship. I love how James and Thomas’s love is given the preeminence it has in their lives without ever insulting or overshadowing their mutual love for Miranda, and Miranda’s mutual love for them. I love how McGraw’s malaise is allowed to be Grief, and not made into something tawdry and disrespectful to her or himself or their feelings.Even JackXAnneXMax, which is a MUCH more difficult relationship and still somewhat ambiguous at the end, is so respectful and affectionate. They work through their problems with communication and honesty like adults, rarely belittling or ignoring the hurts they cause each other, rarely letting their egos and ambitions get in the way of the love they feel for each other(even if that love is an entirely different kind re: Jack and Max). And when they do hurt each other, THAT ends up being the lesson they learn from it; that risking their relationships was foolish and short-sighted, and that they’ll try to never do it again, and that they will dedicate themselves to repairing that injury. This is just such a great, and honestly revolutionary, show in how it writes relationships after S1. -- source link
