witchofthekorcari:“Then Fёanor ran from the Ring of Doom, and fled into the night; for his father was dearer to him than the Light of Valinor or the peerless works of his hands; and who among sons, of Elves or of Men, have held their fathers of greater worth?”Never before noticed this lines. Love of Fёanor to his father was even more, than his love for Silmarils. And yeah, soon you all will find out what Fёanore was capable of for these gems.He lost his mother when he was just new born baby, and i think he was always jealous for his brothers, cause Indis was always there for her children. Do you remember his quarrel with Fingolfin, his words about taking his place in fathers heart?“Try but once more to usurp my place and the love of my father, and maybe it will rid the Noldor of one who seeks to be the master of thralls.”And now he understands that he lost his father. His pain for loosing father is more bigger than his pain for loosing Silmarils. And love of Finwё for his son was so much, that he went with him in exile, and didn’t run from Melkor to save his life, when he attacked Formenos. I’m pretty sure that Finwё was protecting Silmarils from Melkor, cause he knew how much they mean to his beloved son.picture by Jenny Dolfen [x] -- source link
