weaselwoman:sisterofthewolves:Picture by Scott MoffattForlorn gray wolf in northern Ontario, Canada. This female, caught in a padded leg hold trap, is about to recieve a gps satellite radio collar. The individuals movements and predation events will be monitored as part of a woodland caribou conservation project. This is a nice post. It’s not just us fur trappers who use legholds, but biologists use them too, to help further conservation efforts and monitor collared animals in a given area. If a wolf can be caught, collared and released unharmed back into the wild, it really shows how humane foothold traps really are. They’re not these maiming, crippling devices the media and AR organizations make you think they are. They’re tools for conservation and research. -- source link
