Here’s an excerpt from our handbook:Great opening question! The Dirkjake fest is a community event that aims to connect fan writers and artists interested in producing collaborative fanworks. The final results of said contributions will be uploaded during February 2022’s Dirkjake Week. Days 11-17, in an AO3 collection under the same name. Commonly referred to as Big Bangs, the concept calls back to a fandom tradition from a bygone era of cutout stamps and mail-in zines, wherein writers would submit works to underground publications hoping to meet like minded creators and artists who would have their work published in the same magazine. Sometimes accompanying or directly inspiring the written pieces! In the end, everyone got some good fucking food.This is why the sign-up period is divided into two slices: Writers will be called to come up with summaries and eventually submit a draft concept. After that period, Artists are able to sign-up and pair with the different short stories to provide the visuals. Once done, finished works will be properly reboosted, published and advertised through the page’s different social media accounts during Dirkjake week! (The artist and writer may post their own creations separately, the page’s end goal is simply to archive the projects and make them circulate.)Writer applications are now OPEN!Artist applications COMING SOON!This time around, Writing submissions for the release have their minimum word count set to 2.000 words. (For the anniversary theming.)
