La Violeta Tienda de Ropas, Plaza Central, Logroño, La Rioja, 2012.In the home country of Zara with Corte Inglés department stores in almost every city and quite the equal of similar stores in other countries, the widespread existence of small stores, with all of the merchandise under glass or behind counters, is surprising but common in Spain’s smaller cities. Although the Logroño branch of Corte Inglés is but a short walk from this store, it was more fun to shop at La Violeta when I needed some socks!The architecture is also interesting. It is typical of commercial spaces built during the dictatorship. While in general Logroño is a graceful and attractive city, it has a number of horrors built when Franco was in power (as well as some horrors built recently, including not a few that have been left incomplete thanks to the recent economic crisis). -- source link
