Gun Myth: Billy the Kid was left handed.Reality: He was a righty.The only surviving photograph of Billy the Kid clearly shows him with his gun holstered on his left hip.  This lead to the myth that Billy the Kid was left handed and was further exacerbated by Hollywood movies such as “The Left Handed Gun” staring Paul Newman.However, this photograph was a ferrotype print.  Acid was used to etch an image on a tin plate which was used to produce the photograph.  As a result the photograph was a mirror image of reality. -- source link
