shakespearesglobeblog:From the Globe Archives: Shakespeare’s Globe under constructionThroughout Museum Week, we’ll be sharing some of the gems from our archives. As today’s theme is architecture, take a look at some images from the building of Shakespeare’s Globe on Bankside. The first photo from 1992 shows the progress made when the first two bays of the outdoor theatre were built. The second photo, taken in early 1995, shows nearly two-thirds of the bays were completed. The third photo, dated from 1996, shows all of the bays completed. The “Oakhenge” image was taken in 1988, when international supporters from Mexico to Germany each gave a beam, and the site was opened by Prince Philip in 1988.Interested in learning more about the Globe and its history?
