debtheauthor:eneada:I draw Yunmeng Heroes and now it is the turn of Two Jades. I wanted to draw this scene so much my twittermy instagramHe could barely walk after they beat him, but even then he refused to show weakness.“Oh, Wangji,” Lan Xichen thought to himself. “Your pain is not a weakness.”He walked quietly behind him to his quarters, to make sure he made it. Then, he sent a servant for the healing waters, salve, and several cloths. He would need them. The blood stained through Lan Wangji’s stark white garments early into the beating. But he didn’t let them see how it hurt. Even now, as he made his way very slowly to the floor, he did it with the grace of Hanguang Jun, as anyone would expect. But Lan Xichen wasn’t just anyone. He waited for the servant to return, then waited for her to leave before he closed the door. Now, they were alone. In the stillness Lan Wangji’s breath was labored by many things, but none heavier than this: Wei Ying was gone, and he would never see him again.Lan Xichen knelt behind his little brother and set the water beside him. Lan Wangji’s body trembled when he touched his shoulder. Before Wei Ying, no other dared, except for Lan Xichen.Lan Wangji unfastened his garments, and Lan Xichen peeled them from his bloody back. There would be scars. They would run deep. The price to pay for standing with the one who knows you.Lan Xichen set the garments aside and picked up the first cloth. He dipped it into the icy water, wrung it out just a little, and then pressed it gently to the first gash. Lan Wangji’s breath hitched, but he stiffened his body, braced himself on one arm, and kept his eyes forward. Lan Xichen was careful to clean what he could with the first rag. But there was so much blood. He only finished treating three gashes before he took up a new cloth. As he wrung this one of excess water, he paused.“It’s all right, Wangji.”As he tended to the next gash, Lan Wangji closed his eyes. The tears still came. Why couldn’t they stay put? Why couldn’t he hold them in?Why couldn’t they have just left him alone? Why did he let go?One deep breath, and deep, longing sobs poured out of his core. He couldn’t stop them from coming. The pain was too great.Lan Xichen continued to tend to his wounds and said nothing more. He didn’t need to. When he finished, he helped his little brother to his feet and then to his bed.Lan Wangji lay carefully on his stomach and turned his face away from Lan Xichen in shame as he cried himself to sleep.Lan Xichen touched his head gently, pulled the bedsheets over his legs and waist, and then wished for good dreams and better days before he left Lan Wangji to his rest. -- source link
