herebesherlocks:pebble-mocha:And just think about all the autistic people out there who don’t even know they’re autistic, and maybe never will, I only recently had a doctor that finally allowed me to take the “autism test”, and I tested positive even after all of the doubt from past doctors who wouldn’t allow me to testYou are real! I support you!Don’t worry about getting a professional diagnosis yet! Or ever!I (adult female) was kind of borderline ASD on the tests but I asked my psychologist about it and she was like “Oh yeah I diagnosed you ages ago.”The DSM-V autism criteria are based off little boys! They do not encompass all manifestations of autism! Let’s not make ASD into one of those “I identify as this” things but if you’ve really looked into it and you think you’re autistic you probably are, ESPECIALLY if it runs in your family. You know yourself better than anyone else does and there’s a lot of value in self-diagnosis. Kudos if you can get an official diagnosis and get some support. -- source link
