030 The Power of the Daleks by David WhitakerIllustrated by bombard-a-drab-mobSeason 4, Story 3:The Doctor has just regenerated for the first time but there isn’t a moment to lose as he and his companions are pitted against their oldest enemies: The Daleks. But it isn’t just the Doctor’s who has turned over a new leaf. The Daleks have been reduced to subservient slaces to a collection of human colonists on Planet Vulcan. With nobody believing the Doctor’s dire warnings to not trust them, the Daleks are reactivated and all hell breaks loose.STORY FACTS ~All of this story is MISSING.It features the Second Doctor and companions Polly Wright and Ben Jackson. This is the Second Doctor’s first story. At first the Doctor pretends to be a different person, The Examiner and refers to the Doctor in the third person. This might be intentional or some post-regeneration confusion. This is the first story to not credit any of the original cast. This is the first Dalek story which their creator Terry Nation did not write. These Daleks appear to be more primitive than the ones in The Chase or The Daleks’ Masterplan, as they lack the ability to time travel and depend on static electricity to move as they did in their earlier stories. This is the first story in which we clearly see the Dalek creatures. Glimpses of their tentacles had be seen before, but in this story we see the full blob. The Planet Vulcan in Doctor Who and the Planet Vulcan in Star Trek are a coincidence Both planets were seen on screen for the first time within months of each other. This is the first story to use a title “[blank] of the Daleks”, the most commonly used title format for Dalek stories. This story was originally called The Destiny of Doctor Who. -- source link
