Hundreds of thousands of women in Poland took to the streets in protest of a proposed total abortion ban—and won. Polish lawmakers overwhelmingly voted to reject the ban 352-58 following the protests.But the fight isn’t over. Poland has one of the most restrictive abortion laws in Europe and only allows abortion in situations of risk to life or health, sexual assault or severe fetal impairment. As a result of the law women are generally unable to access lawful abortion services in Poland. We expect many battles ahead until people in Poland are able to truly access abortion in practice. -- source link
