dreamforaliving:The Tyrannosaurus in Steven Spielberg’s 1993 film Jurassic Park was 36 feet long and 18 feet tall. The animatronic creature, the largest of its kind was built by Stan Winston and was hydraulically powered. According to accounts from crew it felt like a bus going by you when it would move. The scene involving the T-Rex attacking the park vehicle was filmed on Sound Stage 16 at Warner Bros. Entertainment Studio (As depicted in the attached photo). The scene called for it to be raining so rain machines inside the sound stage were activated, and filming commenced. Not long into filming the T-Rex began to shudder, as if it were cold. In reality the foam-rubber skin of the T-Rex had started absorbing water, and now all of the calculations relating to its movement were off. The crew went out and bought tons of towels and started putting big blowers, dryers, on the T-Rex between takes to dry it out. The T-Rex’s roars (added in post) were a combination of dog, penguin, tiger, alligator, and elephant sounds.
