Dear lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*, queer, questioning, two-spirit, intersex, asexual and gender nonconforming youth: You deserve to take up space in the world.Last year we launched a new LGBTQ teen program—the LGBTQ Teen Night Planning Committee, and this year we’re back at it again! Our teens have been working hard over the last few months to organize a fun, creative, inclusive, and revolution-filled space. Inspired by Agitprop! and Disguise: Masks and Global African Art, the LGBTQ Teen Night: Queer Uprising will be a night of spoken word, art-making, music, temporary tattoos, partner organizations, an LGBTQ youth-led panel discussion, snacks and more!“We made this night to bring you a sense of fun and excitement,” says senior LGBTQ Teen Night Planning Committee member, Tommy. “…A prelude between the anticipation of school’s ending and Summer’s awakening. A night of freedom from all of life’s stresses. No homework. No essays. Just us as we are, found in the music.” Come as you are and take up space at the Brooklyn Museum Friday June 10th 5pm-7pm.
