Back Home Episode 8 for our couple? Well, that was just damn gorgeous. And touched on so many things I’ve waited the year to get addressed.Quite literally left me without words.Edit: I did end up putting up the narrative I discuss below… “After All”..This image was supposed to come with a narrative to add to the Honey Mushroom series. Pending final input from the episode, or possible total canon dismissal: indeed, the timeline for Hugh’s release from medical care with the text and what was presented in the show do not match now. By one lousy evening! So, imagine my frustration to lose this week’s work because of that. Exactly what I mean about the perils of trying create in midst of an ongoing season.(Though, I must also be glad I did do this - better to have lost the text and be left with the illu, than to not have either. Besides: this scene could still be coming too - or it could be from the past, if all else fails). That said, a lot of the narrative would’ve read like repeating the episode anyway - dialogue between the two, giving them some time to discuss the issues before arriving to… whatever canon wanted.Of topics in the show, addressing ie. the question of confronting Tyler, the pain Paul’s been through in Hugh’s absence (and his inability to name it out loud), Paul’s past neglect of Hugh in favor of work (his regret of it and want to amend), the fact of not feeling the way one used to, and the issue of continuing where they left like nothing happened vs. moving on, Paul’s uncertainty how to act around Hugh (and Hugh commenting on the unusualness of it), and Hugh’s uncharacteristic anger… even the dang issue of visiting the mess hall vs. staying at ‘home’ to eat was there *hah* (and indeed their “home”: the ever present issue on the suitability of shared quarters). All in all this validates but one thing to me: my goodness did Discovery deliver! And the acting from these two was absolute perfection - once again (if I believed in ‘perfection’, but let’s not go there - these two make me believe). All: the hope and hurt, the anger, the confusion… so painfully beautiful and nuanced. So good!I’m so overjoyed! My Brain is overjoyed!(And hopeful that some of the now lost interaction/dialogue will come handy later on still, elsewhere or once re-adjusted to somehow fit the canon timeline perhaps)..This would’ve been a ‘homecoming’ scene right after Paul’s time anomaly rescue mission in ep. 7. Now, feel free to imagine what you will (though, I do try to encourage you to always imagine what you will with these, but doubly so now, I suppose). This is possibly the most pleased I’ve ever been with a background with these (nicked from this), and they (or Paul) go and ‘change’ the layout of the place? *hah* - from what was shown on USS Stamets anyway. Not that the Replicator setup in the corner was ever canon. But whose to say it’s still couldn’t be there: right where hug’s stuff seems to be piled - the medal included! Also? Of course all that stray glassware had to be his *hah*Also, also? Omg, the ‘toothbrushes’ are both still in place - along with the whole ‘his and his’ setup. This episode just tickled so many a head canon canon fancy (!!!).. -- source link
