gffa:gffa:OKAY, I’M GONNA TALK SEMI-SERIOUSLY ABOUT THIS ISSUE, even though you should absolutely read it as the most hilarious thing you’ve ever seen in your life, because it really fucking is.  I LAUGHED SO HARD I CRIED.But what I love a bit more of a serious note is what she highlights about Anakin Skywalker, when you stop to think about how he would react to this and how he doesn’t react anymore.Once upon time, Anakin Skywalker was a romantic idealist, he called a beautiful girl an angel and thought about her every day for ten years, he married her after knowing her for like a week, he gave her little tokens of affection, he had a secret relationship that only they knew about, that guy from from 0 to 100mph like that and was hardcore idealizing the fuck out of his relationship.Our nurse here is taken to an extreme, Anakin was never this bad, but those trinkets she was keeping definitely made me think of the jappor snippet, the way she couldn’t stop thinking about him made me think of Anakin knowing a girl for like a day and a half and thinking about her for ten years to the point that it caused him to sweat in a panic and start to emotionally spiral over seeing her again.  And how he and Padme never really had the chance to get to fully know each other, they couldn’t have with how little time they spent together.And you know that guy had romance novel daydreams about the people he loved ALL THE TIME, I WILL DIE ON THAT HILL.To have someone else looking at him that way now, to obsess over him and keep prized trinkets and fantasize about him, and have this secret relationship that no one else understands–and then to see Vader’s complete NON-REACTION to it, just sort of gave me a sucker punch about how close to dead Anakin Skywalker truly is.You can’t tell me that he doesn’t know how she feels–he’s a level 200 Psychic Evil Space Wizard and she’s blasting that shit at him in stereo.  He’s not one bit surprised to see her there in his chambers.Yet there’s nothing there when he sees this echo of someone similar to how he used to be.  He just stares blankly at her and then casually murders her and, yeah, it’s about how ~untouchable~ Darth Vader is, but it also highlights just how little of Anakin Skywalker is even left, that none of that seems to even make a dent in him anymore.This isn’t about loyalty to Padme’s memory, this is about Anakin being gone.  So much so that, when a funhouse mirror reflection of him literally pops up in Vader’s face, he kills that reflection all over again, just like he kills everything else of Anakin Skywalker he can reach.aifsaath replied:Anakin is still edgelord.
