bob-artist:#ReadyForWinterYES! It doesn’t always come across in photos because of his color pattern, but he’s VERY soft! ;_; And his fur is extremely thick and dense. Ferret fur is made up of guard hairs (the longer fur that includes any dark colors), which are silky, and the shorter white/beige undercoat, which is downy. In winter, the guard hairs are longer and the undercoat is thicker and it’s all super soft! My ferrets also eat raw, which made them noticeably softer when I transitioned them years ago. (Ferret fur shouldn’t feel coarse or dry if they’re young and healthy.)A weird thing I’ve noticed with my ferrets is that they always seem to have the nicest coats at age 1 and age 5. Could just be a coincidence, but Tux is 5.5 now, and when Kit was 1-2, his winter coat was literally the softest fur I’d ever felt on any type of animal. It’s still soft this year, but he’s a skinny guy now (he lost his waardie baby fat), so there’s less overall fluffiness than Tux, haha.If you want to get a good view of the downy undercoat, check out Tux’s snow pants:Anyway, tl:dr - Yes. :D -- source link
