recoverlovely: teratocybernetics: fuffuster: trustmymoustache: I’M SO GLAD THIS GOT A TON OF NOTES THEY LOOK SO HAPPY TO BE HELPING RATS ARE ADORABLE OK Awww! I had a couple pet rats once, and it was great. They were so interactive, and often pretty chill. One Halloween I had one on my shoulder when answering the door for the trick or treaters - and they LOVED it! (Rat was not in danger of running off - she was calm and I kept a hand on her while my spouse handled giving out candy.) The rats were also fun because they could use exercise balls (make sure to get the right kind so their tails aren’t at risk of getting caught/pinched), and one of the two particularly liked to follow me around the apartment, especially into the kitchen. Speaking of, having pet rats made me eat a little healthier because we could set aside some of the vegetables or whatnot we were having for them, and it was really neat to have pets that you could easily share with that way. In a location where I couldn’t have a cat, and my long-lived parakeet had recently died (he was 14 years old, I’d had him since before high school), I’m so glad a friend convinced me of the virtues of rats over hamsters or similar. Their short life span was hard to take, but they were lovely and I recommend them whenever the occasion arises. -- source link
