riverlight82:itscolossal:After weeks of strong winds, ice, snow, and fog, photographer Marko Korosec climbed a mountain in eastern Slovenia and this is what he discovered.Or: the war had been going on for years, and the ranks of men were thin, with precious few soldiers left; their last strongholds were about to be overrun, else they wouldn’t have considered such dire magic as this. It would bring on the winter, the mages said, and freeze the dragons in their dens. As the advancing chill crept down from the mountains and over the forests, the gathered hosts of humankind watched as first one dragon and then another froze where they flew swooping over the battlefields, and fell to earth with a mighty crash; but the mages were more powerful than they knew, and still the chill crept on, colder and more bitter every second, so strong that the dragons retreated to their forest strongholds and men to their towers, but still the cold came, relentless. The dragons froze where they were caught out of their dens, yea, even the oldest dragon of all, perched on a cliff overlooking his domain—and thus the war between men and dragons came to an end. But at what price? For the men, too, froze, and never since has the race of men trod those wild forests. -- source link
